Her career includes extensive experience in luxury hospitality, with a background that includes working for prestigious hotel chains such as St. Regis and Auberge. Valerie grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, attended college in Pittsburgh, and spent the next ten years in North Carolina. Her first job after college was at Pinehurst Resort during the 1999 US Open Golf Championship. In 2009, Valerie and her husband moved to Aspen, like many others, "for the season," and have since started their family here. She brings valuable insights into local government systems from her time working with the City of Aspen. Additionally, she has served on the board of the Aspen Pitkin County Housing Authority and the Short-Term Rental Policy Committee. Outside of work, Valerie and her family enjoy traveling. Some of their favorite destinations include Moab, Santa Fe, and remote mountain hikes around the Roaring Fork Valley.
